PROCTORVILLE — A free vascular screening will be offered by the King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) Mobile Health Unit, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Kroger, 6306 State Route 7, Proctorville.

KDMC nurse practitioner Debra Cummings will review patient results. The screening includes lipid profile (fasting required), ankle brachial index (ABI), blood glucose and an electrocardiogram (EKG).

A lipid profile (blood test) gives a breakdown of good and bad cholesterol levels. Ankle brachial index (ABI) is a measurement of blood pressure at the ankle to check for signs of peripheral artery disease (PAD). An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a non-invasive test to measure electrical activity in the heart by attaching electrodes to the skin. Blood glucose screening checks the level of sugar in the blood.
