SOUTH POINT — Opal June Vance, 81 of South Point, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at her residence. The Beckley, W.Va. native was born Dec. 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Orval and Jettie Aaron Hankins. Mrs. Vance is preceded in death by her husband Donald Vance.
Mrs. Vance attended South Point Schools, was a homemaker and a member of the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in
death by a granddaughter, Brandy Brown; three sisters, Barbara Jenkins, Lucille Kelley, and Loraine Fields; and a brother, Joe Hankins.
She is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Gumbert and Donna Johnson, both of South Point, Denise and Richard Cox of Chesapeake, and Sandy Hutton of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren;a sister, Carolyn Bond of Ironton; and a brother, Bill Hankins of Ironton.
