PROCTORVILLE — Don’t bother with any map. The Fairland Dragons come at you from all directions.

Fairland used a variety of formations and mixed their running game with the pass as they beat the Rock Hill Redmen 35-13 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

While Rock Hill came into the game with a high-powered passing game, the Dragons got 352 yards on the ground and 138 via the air as they improved to 4-2 and 1-0 in the OVC.

Matt Bloomfield ran 16 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns and also caught two passes for 42 yards. Tyler Duty added 95 yards on just eight attempts with a score and quarterback Chad Fisher threw for 112 yards, ran for 87 and caught a pass for 27 yards.

“My biggest concern was with them passing and where they could attack us,” said Fairland coach Dave Carroll.

“Our plan was to spread them out and to attack them all over the field and make them defend us.”

The plan of attack worked well in the first half. The Dragons scored on their first possession of the game when Fisher hit Kyle Taubenheim with a 23-yard scoring strike. Duty’s conversion kick made it 7-0.

Fisher connected with Eric Riley on a 13-yard touchdown pass to start the second quarter and Tanner Sowards’ conversion run made it 15-0.

Duty bolted 56 yards down the sidelines for a score with 3:26 left in the half and it was 21-0.

The Dragons got the ball back at the 40 with about a minute in the half and on the second play Bloomfield raced 38 yards for a touchdown and a 27-0 lead with 36 seconds left on the clock.

“We were well prepared. (Assistant coaches) Jeff (Gorby) and Terry (Duty) had good game plans and both of those guys made good adjustments. Other than the start of the second half, our defense played well,” said Carroll.

Rock Hill (0-6, 0-1) took the second half kickoff and marched for their first score as Steve Lewis ran 11 yards at the 9:46 mark. Cody Massie kicked the extra point.

Fairland then went on a 91-yard, 12-play time-consuming drive capped by Bloomfield’s 14-yad run at the 3:09 mark. Fisher ran for the conversion and it was 35-7.

Rock Hill answered with another scoring drive as quarterback Will McCollister scored on a 1-yard run with no time on the third quarter clock.

McCollister finished 12-of-22 for 06 yards and an interception. Lewis finished with 59 yards on 11 carries as the Redmen had 238 total yards. Jeremy Blagg had three receptions for 59 yards.
