Ironton 56, Chillicothe 17

IRONTON — The Ironton Fighting Tigers rolled up 424 total yards en route to a 56-14 win over the Chillicothe Cavaliers Friday in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game.

Quarterback Ethan Preston was 5-of-6 passing for 144 yards and Jon Monnig had 5 catches for 152 yards. Michael Lawless caught a 26-yard scoring pass from Tommy Waginger.

The running game racked up 254 yards on 55 attempts led by J.P. Taylor with 74 yards and Tres Wilkswith 72. Taylor scored on touchdown run and had a 41-yard punt return for a score.

The Fighting Tigers led 28-10 at the half, but fumbled to start the second half and the Cavaliers (1-5, 0-2) capitalized to get within 28-17.

But the Fighting Tigers (4-2, 2-1) scored two touchdowns in each the third and fourth quarters to cruise to the win.

Coal Grove 50, Chesapeake 27

COAL GROVE — Senior quarterback Evan Ferguson threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score as the Coal Grove Hornets beat the Chesapeake Panthers 50-27 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chesapeake (1-5, 0-1) got within 16-14 to start the second half on a 61-yard run by Peter Hintz, but the Hornets came right back with a 20-yard touchdown run by Frank Delawder and a 47-yard scoring pass from Ferguson to Boo Woods to open up a 30-14 lead.

Ferguson did his damage on 8-of-11 passing. He also rushed nine times for 74 yards.

Oakie Haynes caught three passes for 108 yards and Aaron Dickess three for 68.

South Point 34, River Valley 7

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Pointers found its offensive and defense in a 34-7 win over the River Valley Raiders.

The Pointers rushed for 328 yards on offense and held the Raiders to minus 26 yards on the ground thanks to five quarterback sacks. River Valley (0-6, 0-1) finished with 66 total yards.

Doug Dillon rand 21 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Pointers (1-5, 1-0). Quarterback Kyle Dickess ran nine times for 58 yards and completed a 32-yard scoring pass to Will Hill. He also returned an interception 34 yards for a score.

Fairland 35, Rock Hill 13

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redmen 35-13 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Quarterback Chad Fisher threw for 98 yards and ran for 90 more to lead the Dragons (4-2, 1-0). Matt Bloomfield rushed for 144 yards from his halfback spot and Wildcat formation.

Rock Hill (0-6, 0-1) had 255 total yards with quarterback Will McCollister hitting 13-of-23 for 122 yards.
