Kenneth “Tuffy” Eugene DeLawder, 65, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
The Ironton native was born Oct. 4, 1944, the son of the late Darlene Gore Owens and Chester Owens.
Mr. DeLawder was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former welder with J.W. Bray Company and of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother; Michael Short Sr.
He is also survived by a son, Kenneth M. DeLawder of Ironton; two daughters, Cheri DeLawder of Ashland, Ky., and Kimberly DeLawder of Ironton; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Belville, Jessica Brown, Chandler Dodson, Madison Baker and Kelly DeLawder and a nephew, Michael Short of Ironton.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 8850.
