Myrtle Elizabeth Meyers, 93, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton, Ohio.
The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 22, 1916, the daughter of the late James M. and Olive Walters Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence F. Meyers, who passed away January 1991.
Mrs. Meyers was a 1934 graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church, St. Lawrence Women’s Club, and the Heart Association. She also enjoyed attending stock car racing.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons; a sister; and three brothers.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Ann and Ralph Lewis of Ironton and Gail and Robert Holtzapfel of South Point; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Ralph Stephen and Lori Lewis, Kimberly A. and Darrell Cannon, Amy and Dana Lewis, Marta and Michael Farrell, Leslie and David Partridge, Chad and Carmen Holtzapfel, and Blake Holtzapfel;13 great grandchildren: Nick Lewis, Chris Lewis, Lindsay Cannon, Drew Cannon, Ryan Cannon, Craig Lewis, Cory Lewis, Kelsey Farrell, Colleen Farrell, Keira Partridge, Logan Holtzapfel, Colin Holtzapfel and Cameron Holtzapfel; a great great grandchild, Tyson; sisters-in-law, Gladys Meyers and Marcella Meyers; special friends, Pat and George Sisler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church, with Father David Huffman and Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
