FRANKLIN FURNACE — The fumble reared its ugly head again for the Green Bobcats.

Green won a game earlier this season despite five fumbles. The Bobcats weren’t as fortunate this time as the South Gallia Rebels scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull away to a 23-6 win over the Bobcats Friday night.

Green (2-5) had moved deep into South Gallia territory in the first quarter, but the Bobcats fumbled and Jeff Clyburn scooped up the ball and returned it 71 yards for a touchdown.

Cory Haner passed to Danny Matney for the conversion and it was 8-0.

The score remained that way until Chad Lewis had a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:25 left in the third quarter that got Green within 8-6.

South Gallia finally put together a drive in the fourth quarter and scored on a 1-yard run by Clyburn. Bryce Clary passed to Josh Cooper for the conversion and a 16-6 lead.

The Rebels got an insurance touchdown with 1:40 to play on a 26-yard run by Clary. Rasmus Karlson kicked the conversion and it was 23-6.

Green outgained South Gallia in total yards 210 to 189. Lewis ran 15 times for 71 yards and quarterback Tyler Hughes was 5-of-11 for 5 yards.

Logan Wamsley had 74 yards on 13 carries for South Gallia (2-4).
