Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will conduct routine field inspections of the Ironton-Russell Bridge in Lawrence County during the upcoming weeks.

Beginning Wednesday and continuing through Nov. 5, crews from Richland Engineering will conduct physical inspections that include testing, as well as examining pins and gusset plates.

During the first week of inspections, the bridge will be open to two lanes of traffic, and there should be little impact to traffic.

However, intermittent lane restrictions will be imparted during the weeks of Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 in which the bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic with traffic maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.

Lane restrictions are not anticipated to be in effect during the final week of inspections in early November, and the project is anticipated to be completed by Nov 5.

All work is scheduled to take place from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day as weather permits.
