Motivational speaker to visit Ohio University Southern

IRONTON — Loaded with ability despite a disability, motivational speaker Brett Eastburn will address Ohio University Southern students, staff and the general public with his presentation titled “No Arms, No Legs, No Handicaps (No disabilities either!) on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Riffe Center Mains Rotunda, Eastburn’s speech will have attendees learning how to overcome obstacles associated with handicaps.

The event is part of the university’s Disability Awareness Month. There is no cost to attend the presentation.

Born in 1971 with a congenital birth defect known as Quadmembral Limbs Deficiency, Eastburn was born without arms or legs.

While in school he played baseball, football and basketball along with becoming an accomplished swimmer.

In junior high school, Eastburn became a member of the wrestling team — a sport he continued throughout high school including placing fourth in the nation in his weight class at the 1988 AAU wrestling finals.

After graduating he became a green belt in the martial arts and is also an accomplished artist with national recognition.

He has taken his motivational message to more than one million people across the world including Okinawa, Japan, Panama, Canada, Switzerland, and Mexico.

The Tyner, Indiana native has spoken for corporate motivation events, corporate comedy/motivation events, club comedy, high schools, junior highs, elementary schools, churches, industry, military, police groups and more.

He is an internationally acclaimed and respected motivational speaker that demonstrates the ability to overcome any obstacles.

His presentations are designed to enhance self-esteem and high achievement levels within the individual.

He teaches that, with the right amount of self-advocacy, it is much easier to deal with society’s crutches, such as the “I can’t do it!” attitude and the urge to draw attention through negative behavior. Eastburn’s philosophies are intended to help each individual promote increased productivity in all areas of life.
