JAMES KENNEDY

James H. Kennedy, 86 of Ironton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born July 7, 1923, in Denton, Ky. to the late John Milton and Stella (Arden) Kennedy.
He was the owner and operator of Kennedy Insurance Agency, Kennedy Realty, a member of First Baptist Church in Ironton for 42 years and was a former deacon, member of the Rotary Club with 34 years of uninterrupted attendance. He was a member of the American Legion 433 for 39 years, was veteran of the U.S. Air Force in World War II – China Burma India Theatre, and a member of the CBIT Veterans Association.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Huxley Kennedy, Oakley Kennedy and Morton Kennedy; and two sisters,Marie Kennedy and Mary Lou Cassidy.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Kennedy, three sons, Donald Kennedy of Cincinnati, Robert (Mary Lee) Kennedy of Phoenix, Ariz. and John (Marjorie) Kennedy of Singapore; two daughters, Cindy (James) Hamrick of Knoxville, Tenn. and Martha (Eric) Alfrey of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Lois (Ralph) Ison of Oklahoma City, Okla; one brother, William D. (Phyllis) Kennedy of Ironton; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a special friend and brother-in-law, Tom Burg.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Strawn officiating. Internment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: NICS, project# 003067 P.O. Box 1260, Southaven, MS 38671.
