PAC Halloween Party set for Oct. 31

PEDRO — The Lawrence County chapter of the Parent Advocacy Connection has scheduled a “ghoulish good time” with its annual Halloween party scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3 to 7 p.m.

Scheduled to be held at 782 SR 522 in Pedro, the party continues to group’s mission of training and placing advocates in family situations to provide assistance to needed families, to assist children and families as they navigate the behavioral healthcare systems serving children with mental health or drug problems, issues in schools, courts and children’s services.

Besides its Halloween party, the Parent Advocacy Connection also partners with the Mended Reeds Mental Health center to collect 20 baskets of food for Thanksgiving along with upcoming plans to have a Christmas dinner for its families.

Sones de Mexico Ensemble to perform

IRONTON — Sones de Mexico Ensemble, the six-member company of Mexican musicians who bring their sounds of regional music from their home country, is set to appear in Ironton Thursday and Friday.

The ensemble will perform three concerts starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Sybene Senior Center. Later that day at 7 p.m., the band will perform a more extensive show at Ohio University Southern in the Riffe Center’s Mains Rotunda.

On Friday, Oct. 30, a 10 a.m. performance also at Ohio University will be geared more for the college students followed by workshops at Ironton High School.

Each performance is free of charge and is presented by the Ohio Council for the Arts and the Ohio University Southern Cultural Diversity Committee.
