Mrs. Helen Margurite Rogers, 87, of Ironton, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born May 27, 1922 in El Paso, Ill., the daughter of the late Dee and Bertha Virgin Floyd.
She worked for 15 years as a teacher for the Rock Hill School District . Helen was also a faithful member of the Plymouth Heights Nazarene Church in Franklin Furnace and was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Rogers, whom she married April 13, 1940; one sister, Maxine Boggs; and two brothers, John and Carl Floyd.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Eugene Parks of Tipp City and Denise and Richard Fraley of Ironton; a daughter, Rebecca Rogers of Ironton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Susan Rogers of Coal Grove and David and Marilyn Rogers of Russell, Ky.; a son, Kenneth Rogers of Ironton; two sisters, Doris Gibson of Vallejo, Calif., and Lucille McFann of Charleston, W. Va.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 -2 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth Heights Nazarene Church, 1321 Braunlin Rd.
