ELLA RICE

SOUTH POINT — Mrs. Ella Ruth (Taylor) Rice, 88, of South Point, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky.
She was born July 6, 1921 in Ivy, Tenn., the daughter of the late William and Julie (King) Taylor. She was a homemaker and during WWII she was a welder at Fairfield Shipyard in Baltimore, Md. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rice; two sons: Cecil Rice Jr. and David R. Rice; one daughter, Gloria Benz; one granddaughter, Julie Benz; two brothers, Homer and Bert Taylor; and three sisters, Etta, Georgia and Bertha.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Farren and Susan Brickles, both of South Point; four sons, Ray Rice, Mark Rice, Kenneth (Tracy) Rice and Jay (Patty) Rice; all of Warsaw, Ind.; one sister, Loma Arney of Las Casses, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 1p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Chaffins officiating. Internment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
