Holiday season under way

Now we know summer is over. The election is past and the butterfly bushes behind the Lawrence County Museum have lost their blossoms.

Last Sunday we were entertained by pianist Jean Kinley for a concert for the opening of Christmas season. It was a wonderful afternoon.

This Sunday, Jackie Dufore and Susan King Taylor will be with us.

We are really looking forward to the Sunday programs at the museum. The following Sunday, Elizabeth Melvin will sing and play the piano for us.

If you want apple butter, come to the museum at Sixth and Adams streets, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. This is with the exception of Saturday, Nov. 14, at which time will be the Victorian Christmas Tea, which is an annual event.

We still have books, bell pullers and other things that would make good Christmas present. Lori Shafer’s new book, “Lawrence County Ghost Stories,” is available at the museum.

The Annual Candlelight Church Walk will take place Saturday, Dec. 5. Plan to attend, you will really enjoy it and will receive refreshments afterward.
