CHESAPEAKE — It’s a celebration that will be a way for three young performers to give back to their community in more than one way.

The 4-Mile band will release its first CD at a special concert at Chesapeake Middle School at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. The CD will feature eight songs, written by band member, Abbey Kimball, a seventh grader at Chesapeake.

All are in the country/pop/contemporary genre.

All proceeds from the concert will go help needy children in the village with items such as clothes.

“I thought it would be great to have their first live concert,” Sam Gue, assistant principal at Chesapeake Middle, said. “They have done so much for our community as far as playing.”

The band often performs for school functions.

“It is very exciting. We are so excited,” said Casey Underwood, 15, who play acoustic guitar, about the upcoming concert. Underwood goes to Chesapeake High.

Recording the CD came about after the band kept getting so many inquiries about their work.

“People were asking about our music,” Underwood said. “We needed something to give to show what type of music. We write our own songs.”

Songwriter Kimball, a Chesapeake Middle student, finds creating music and lyrics is a good way to communicate with others, but enjoys performing as well as writing.

“It is getting my music out to other people,” she said.

Rounding out the trio is Anna Claire Kimball, the 9-year-old sister to Abbey, and Chesapeake Middle student. The Kimball sisters are cousin to Underwood.

Admission to the concert is $5. There will be a special “4-mile walk with 4-mile,” Thursday where the community is invited to walk on the track or at the gym, depending on the weather. Cost for that is $5, with that participants will get a free ticket to the show.
