In a season marked by a record number of victories, Bob Lutz picked up one more win Tuesday.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers 40-year veteran head football coach won the Associated Press Division IV Coach of the Year award to cap a season in which he broke the state record for most career wins.

Lutz eclipsed Terry Malone’s record of 360 wins on Oct. 23 as Ironton beat Nelsonville-York 32-12. Ironton qualified for the playoffs and reached the regional championship game to finish 10-3 and Lutz is now 364-85-5 in his career.

Lutz and Albany Alexander’s Sean Arno shared the coaching honor at the state and district levels.

Ironton also had two first team All-Ohio selections as senior defensive end Jon Monnig and senior tackle Sam Cramblit were honored.

Monnig — a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder — was the Southeast district Defensive Player of the Year as he led the team with 10 quarterback sacks. The 6-foot, 265-pound Cramblit was a two-time first team all-district selection. He was special mention All-Ohio last year.

Seven other area players were named to the All-Ohio special mention list. All seven were first team all-district picks.

Ironton had three players honored as special mention including 6-1, 195-pound senior linebacker Erin Edens, 6-4, 250-pound junior lineman Robbie Webb and 5-7, 155-pound junior running back Tres Wilks.

Wilks rushed 59 times for 658 yards — an 11.2 average — and scored 10 touchdowns including four punt returns during the regular season.

Webb played guard and on the defensive line while Edens was Mr. Versatility playing running back, tight end and guard on offense. He led the team in tackles on defense.

Rock Hill senior wide receiver Mitchell Davenport (6-2, 195) was All-Ohio for the second straight year. South Point senior defensive lineman Greg Taylor (6-3, 270) was honored on the team as were Fairland’s senior running back Matt Bloomfield (5-10, 175) and junior defensive back Chad Fisher (5-11, 160).

Davenport had 37 catches for 570yads and three touchdowns.

Taylor has been getting recruiting looks from schools such as Indiana and Western Michigan.

Bloomfield ran 104 times for 751 yards and 11 touchdowns and also caught 13 passes for 443 yards and five scores. Fisher made an impact at quarterback as he hit 54of 124 passes for 1,167 yards and 14 TDs.
