CHESAPEAKE — The first one is always the best.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers made coach Chris Ball’s first game as a head coach one to remember as they beat the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 49-39 Thursday in a non-league game.

“We played pretty well. Portsmouth did a nice job. (Hannah) Foster is a nice player,” said Ball. “I was pleased with our girls’ effort for the first time out.”
