Chamber to host Tech Talk Friday

SOUTH POINT — OSU South Centers and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce presents Tech Talk Friday’s.

This is a monthly class to provide individuals and businesses the opportunity to advance their technology skills.

Each month a different topic will be covered that teaches participants how to use and share the technology.

All classes will be held on the first Friday of each month at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce office building in South Point with the exception of the January Class, which will be held Jan. 8.

Classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Safety council classes will follow at noon.

In the first session, you will learn a brief overview of the popular social media web sites. In this class you’ll learn how to sign up and utilize Facebook, Twitter, linkedln and more to better connect with others and market your business or product. Each class will be $20 per person.

Chamber members receive a $5 discount. Participants in all three classes through March will receive a $10 discount.

Event to benefit Chesy food pantry

CHESAPEAKE — The Grapplers will take center stage in Chesapeake, Friday at the Chesapeake Community Center.

The Cans for Slams event will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is $8 but patrons can get a $2 discount with donation of two canned food items.

The food will be given to the Chesapeake Food Pantry to be used throughout the holiday season.

Museum to host Cookies with Santa

IRONTON — Celebrate the Christmas cheer at the Lawrence County Museum Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. Cookies with Santa will give the kids and parents a chance to enjoy some good food and finalize those all important Christmas lists.

Several Christmas trees will also be on display. The museum is located at 506 S. Sixth St.

Women’s Night Out set for Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Women’s Heart Board at St. Mary’s Regional Heart Institute will sponsor the “Women’s Night Out: Champagne and Chocolate” fund-raiser on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miller’s Home, part of the Huntington Christmas Home Tour.

The cost is $40 per person. All proceeds go to uninsured and underinsured women for preventive testing for heart disease.
