Let’s Get Started

SOUTH POINT — The game started at 7:30, but it was a little after eight before the South Point Lady Pointers started to play.

After a sluggish first half, the Lady Pointers dominated the third quarter en route to a 66-40 win over the Boyd County (Ky.) Lady Lions Monday.

“We didn’t play well the first half,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.

“We just got after on defense in the third quarter and we got the ball out on the break and we started to get the ball inside.”

Inside the Lady Pointers got 16 points from Tinesha Taylor and 14 from Allison Mitchell. Jalynn Bradburn led the Lady Pointers with 18 points and Kayla Fletcher had 16.

Holly Jude led Boyd County with 12.

Bradburn scored 10 points including trey in the first quarter while Fletcher scored 5 to give South Point a 21-12 lead.

But Courtney Moore and Jude hit 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Lady Lions got within 31-23 at the half.

Taylor and Mitchell had 8 points each in the third quarter as South Point blitzed Boyd County 26-9 to open up a comfortable 57-32 lead and coasted to the win.

“Tinesha and Allison ran the floor well tonight,” said Adams.

South Point plays at Rock Hill Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
