Still looking for a Christmas present for someone who already has everything? Friends of Ironton is coming to your rescue.

The local civic organization is selling bricks that will become part of the new Friends Park Sprayground on South Second Street. Bricks can be engraved with a name or short phrase and serve as a lasting memorial to the giver, the recipient and one’s civic pride.

“We have plenty of room,” Friends of Ironton member Jodi Rowe-Collins said. “And I think things are coming together.”

Rowe-Collins said the organization does not have a set amount of bricks they want to sell.

A $100 4X6 inch Friend Brick allows for three text lines, up to 14 characters per line.

A $1,000 12X12-inch Good Friends paver allows for up to 9 lines of text and 21 characters per line.

A $2,500 18X16 Great Friends paver allows for up to 12 lines of text and a logo, if desired. These pavers will be placed by the flag poles.

The $5,000 24X24 Best Friends allows for 21 lines of text, a logo, if desired, and comes with a bonus of up to 10 Friends bricks.

Rowe-Collins said it is hoped the park will be open in time for the Gus Macker Tournament in May 2010; a grand opening is planned for Memorial Day weekend 2010.
