CHESHIRE — Look for the Rock Hill Redmen to bring a can opener to their next game.

Rock Hill couldn’t generate any offense — especially in the fourth quarter — as they fell 44-41 to the River Valley Raiders Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The Redmen led 36-34 after three quarters, but they made just 2 of 13 shots from the field in the fourth quarter and didn’t score until 1:08 remained.

Rock Hill did get off a 3-point attempt just before time ran out, but the ball hit the rim and bounced off.

“We just had a lid on the basket in the fourth quarter. We missed seven shots from 15-feet or closer,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

“We can’t get everyone clicking at the same time on offense. When the defense holds someone to 44, you should win.”

Sam Cooke had 7 points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 9-6 lead. He had 6 more in the second and it was 24-19 at the break.

River Valley outscored Rock Hill 15-12 in the third quarter despite 6 points by Will McCollister.

The Redmen then managed to scored just 5 points in the fourth quarter as River Vallley rallied to get their first victory in their new gym.

Cooke finished with 18 points for the Redmen.

On Tuesday, Rock Hill hosts Symmes Valley while River Valley plays at South Point in a league game.
