CURTIS ROGERS

Curtis Edward Rogers, 83, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at a local health care center. The Denton, Ky. native was born Nov. 28, 1926, the son of the late Horton and Connie Cunningham Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loretta Evans Rogers, whom he married Sept. 30, 1948.
Mr. Rogers attended Decatur School, was a U.S. WWII Veteran. He was a former employee of Alpha Portland Cement Co. and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He also enjoyed working as a carpenter. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Virgil Rogers, Harold Rogers, Joe Rogers, Lawrence Rogers, and Sherman Rogers; and four sisters, Hermie Rogers, Lexie Rogers, Edith Roe and Charline Phillips.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Rick Rogers of Kitts Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Bill Walters of Ironton and Rhonda and Scott Jenkins of Kitts Hill; five grandchildren, Kristen, Ben, Felicity, and Grace Jenkins and Jessica Fultz; one great granddaughter, Cadence Fultz; two brothers, Jim Rogers and Hollie Rogers both of Pedro; and one sister: Kathryn Hutchinson of Ironton.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Jenkins and Pastor Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
