Leak causes water problems in Coal Grove

A leak has caused water problems in Coal Grove over the last few days. The village’s water was turned off around 9 p.m. Sunday because of an unknown leak.

An operator checking the water plant Saturday noticed that the water level was dropping. Crews searched for the leak unsuccessfully for 10 hours Sunday, Coal Grove Mayor Larry McDaniel said. The crews did find and fix two leaks, but those were not the ones causing problems, he said.

The mayor said he is not sure when the problem will be fixed and water can be turned on.

“It’s just one of those things we don’t know how long it’s going to take,” he said.

Work to find the leak continues today.

“Hopefully they can pinpoint and find it today,” McDaniel said.

A boil water advisory is in effect for Coal Grove water customers until further notice.
