Homer Elden Rodehaver, 91, of Ironton, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Walhonding native was born Aug. 4, 1918, the son of the late Francis Clyde and Caroline Haas Rodehaver. Homer was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy M. Ackinson who passed away July 24, 1997.
He attended Nellie Schools and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was a retired operating engineer with Local 18 District 3 and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in South Point.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janice King; a brother, Delbert Rodehaver; a sister, Genevieve Farnsworth and a son-in-law, Jim King.
He is survived by two daughters, Rose Blankenship of Sheridan and Dana King of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Saundra Rodehaver of Ironton; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
