Senior citizens should take advantage of gyms

I am a senior citizen and one of those people who doesn’t believe everything I hear about what is healthy and what is not, because as you know the list changes frequently.
However, the one thing I have to believe is that exercise is the most important part of a healthy lifestyle.
I have been in an exercise program at the Ironton Fitness Center for the past four or five years.
I am a borderline diabetic and I use this program to help control my blood sugar. I do not take any medication but exercise daily.
I joke at the Fitness Center that I come there so I can eat.
But I also go because I enjoy it and I know it helps keep my body strong.
I recently found out just how strong my bones really are.
I fell on concrete going to the Chiefs football stadium while on a trip to visit my sister. I fell so hard that I stoved the wrist, elbow and shoulder of my right arm, bruised my knees and palms of my hands..
I could not turn my arm for a couple days, but I did not break a bone, which is probably only due to the fact that I am in pretty good shape from all the exercise I do.
I would like to tell all seniors that the Ironton Fitness Center is participating in the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program.
This program will pay your dues at the Fitness Center. Perhaps you were enrolled in this program at Curves before they went out of business, if so you will probably qualify at the Ironton Fitness Center.
The staff there is very friendly and ready to start you out with a program of your own design or one they think is right for you.
To find out if you qualify for the program either call your insurance company or go to the Fitness Center and they will check to see if you qualify.
Even if you don’t qualify for the program the dues are not really costly and they have senior discounts.
You will be doing yourself a favor if you check this out. If you made a New Year’s resolution to start a healthy lifestyle, this is the time to begin.
