Hospice hosting of ‘Popcorn and a Movie’ today
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Hospice of Huntington, Inc. will be hosting popcorn and a movie this today with a 1:30 p.m. and a 6 p.m. showing of the acclaimed animated movie “Up” featuring the voice of Ed Asner as grump man who after losing his wife, sets sail to find adventure by tying helium balloons to his home.
Please call Martha Persinger, volunteer coordinator at (304) 529-4217 to register. This is free to the public. The office is located at 1101 6th Ave. Huntington, W.Va.

Marshall creates virtual campus in Second Life
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall University has created a virtual campus in the online world of “Second Life” that allows visitors to check out the school without leaving their homes.
Marshall said Thursday that its “Second Life” island, MUOnline, will allow visitors to explore campus attractions such as the climbing wall and the recreation center. They also can buy textbooks online at the school’s virtual bookstore and find information about online courses.
In the virtual world of “Second Life,” users create avatars of themselves that live, work and play in its 3-dimensional landscape.
BCPL celebrating National Puzzle Day
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. — What’s a 7-letter word for fun? L-I-B-R-A-R-Y.
Celebrate your love of puzzles with the staff at the Catlettsburg Branch of Boyd County Public Library, on Friday, Jan. 29, which is National Puzzle Day.
Work a jigsaw puzzle or a brain teaser. Try a word search or crossword puzzle to sharpen your mind and improve your brain age.
The event runs all day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
