Lady Pointers tune up for showdown with Panthers

SOUTH POINT — It was a tune-up for the showdown.
The South Point Lady Pointers began a busy and important week with a 68-26 win over the Rock Hill Redwomen Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
The Lady Pointers are now 12-1 overall and tied with Chesapeake for first place in the OVC at 6-0.
South Point plays at Chesapeake in a showdown for first place on Wednesday, then plays in the Huntington St. Joe Invitational Thursday and Saturday.
“This is a big week for us. It’s going to be a tough week for us,” said South Point coach Dave Adams.
Tinesha Taylor scored 17 points to lead four Lady Pointers in double figures. Kayla Fletcher scored 14 while Allison Mitchell scored 12 and Jalynn Bradburn 10.
Chelsea Harper scored 9 points for Rock Hill (1-11, 0-6).
Mitchell scored 7 points and Taylor 6 in the first quarter as the Lady Pointers led 15-2.
Fletcher got 6 and Taylor 5 in the second quarter as the lead grew to 29-9 at the break.
Bradburn scored 8 points and Fletcher 6 as the Lady Pointers scored 24 points in the third quarter to take a 53-23 lead. Harper hit a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter for Rock Hill.
