ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — A familiar face will take on a new role at Rock Hill High School.

The board of education this week chose Bob Wilds as the new assistant principal, filling the vacancy opened when Darrell Humphries took the principal’s job at Symmes Valley High School.

Wilds is both guidance counselor and boy’s basketball coach and has been employed in the Rock Hill district 28 years.

Board President Dennie Hankins said given his longevity in the district, Wilds’ transition from counselor to administrator will likely be a smooth one.

“Bob Wilds is a great fit for that position,” Hankins said. “He has the integrity and the respect of the staff and students and will do an excellent job.”

Superintendent Wes Hairston agreed.

“He’s worn a lot of hats here and we’re very confident he will do an outstanding job,” Hairston said.

The board is in the process of filling the guidance counselor’s position.
