COAL GROVE — No one told Lakeside Christian where the fire extinguishers were located.

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets offense came to life in the second half and burned the Lady Falcons for 50 points as they rolled to a 76-43 win Monday.

The Lady Hornets led just 26-23 at the half but came out strong in the second half and continued to pull away.

“We caught fire in the third quarter and we put them in a situation they’re not use to,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Nick Miller.

“They had some nice kids. They were a better team than the score indicates.”

Chelsea Delong scored 7 points in the first quarter as Coal Grove took a 13-8 lead before Lakeside rallied to within 26-23 at the break.

But then came the third quarter.

Kelli McMackin drained three straight 3-pointers to begin the second half and Delong buried another trey and both players scored 9 points in the quarter as the Lady Hornets blew the game open at 53-30.

In the fourth quarter, Miller emptied his bench and his freshmen scored 17 of their 23 points. Ashley Adkins scored 7 points and Cheyenne Bellomy 6 to lead the Lady Hornets.

Delong finished with 20 points to lead Coal Grove (7-9). Adkins scored 16 and Taylor Fleming came off the bench to score 9.

Ally McGhee scored 13 for Lakeside.
