The Rock Hill Redmen finally got what they wanted.

By taking control of the game’s tempo the Redmen were able to rally in the second half and beat the St. Joseph Flyers 64-50 Tuesday.

“They came out and took it right at us, but we settled down in the second quarter and got the pace we wanted,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

Six different players scored in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 17-16 lead. Riley and Young combined for 12 points for the Flyers.

But Payton Blair got all 6 of his points in the second quarter to offset 8 points by Cooke and the Flyers came back to take a 36-33 lead at the break.

Blagg and Cook had 4 points each and the defense held the Flyers to 6 points as Rock Hill rallied to take a 48-42 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Cooke scored 9 more points in the fourth quarter as the Redmen began to pull away.

“That’s a hard place for us to play. We have a history of not playing well there and we didn’t play well early, but we played a better second half,” said coach Wilds.
