SOUTH POINT — It was a night for achieving goals.

The South Point Lady Pointers clinch a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title and junior Jalynn Bradburn eclipsed 1,000 career points in a 56-31 win over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets Thursday.

Coupled with Chesapeake’s loss at River Valley, South Point is now 8-0 in the league and 15-2 overall. Coal Grove falls to 7-10 and 3-5.

“One of our goals at the beginning of the year is to win the league. We’ve got a share and now we need to go out and win it outright,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.

Bradburn scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter. She finished with 10 points.

Kayla Fletcher had 11 points for the Lady Pointers while Allison Mitchell and Ashley Goodall scored 10 each.

“We had four people in double figures so we moved the ball around pretty well,” said Adams.

Bradburn had a big first quarter. Her runner from the middle of the lane that gave her 8 points in the quarter was also 1,000 for her career.

Fletcher and Goodall added 6 points each in the opening quarter as South Point raced to a 23-4 lead.

“We had a big first quarter and then we kind of coasted from there,” said Adams.

The lead was 34-13 at the half and 48-24 after three quarters.

Kelli McMackin had 13 points and Chelsea Delong 8 to lead the Lady Hornets.
