Mark Anthony Mays, 29, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 23, 1980, the son of John Mays of Ironton and Barbara Ann Watkins Mays of Rome, Ga.
Mark attended Dawson-Bryant High School and was a former employee for Penco in Ashland, Ky. He loved hunting, fishing and working on cars and was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mack and Willa Mae Mays; his
maternal grandparents, Jack and Helen Watkins; and an uncle, Mack Mays Jr.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Brandon Mays of Ironton; three brothers, Shannon Mays and Greg Mays, both of Ironton, and Johnathan Mays of Rome, Ga.; an uncle and aunt, Joey and Patti Mays of Ashland, Ky.; aunt and uncle, Brenda and Larry Keating of Ironton; two uncles, Robert Mays of Columbus and Robert Watkins of Georgia; and two aunts, Brenda Watkins and Debbie Watkins, both of Georgia.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
