SOUTH POINT — Beatrice O. Carpenter, 90, of South Point, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Community Hospice in Ashland, Ky.
She was born Oct. 12, 1919, the daughter of the late Grant and Bessie Hanshaw Johnson. She worked at Sylvania and as a nurse’s aid at Sunset Nursing Home in Coal Grove, and was also an Ironton Tribune carrier for many years. Beatrice was also a member of Freewill Baptist Church in South Point.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank L. Carpenter; twin brother, Bernard F. Johnson; son, Harold R. Carpenter; and daughter, Judith L. Belcher.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Phillip Fairchild; six grandchildren, Randall Carpenter, Greg Fairchild, Kim Belcher, Lisa Wagner, Wade Fairchild, and Kristin Webb; 11 great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Amy, and Ashley Carpenter, Stephen and Mason Fairchild, Tyler, Trevor, and Kayla Wagner, Christopher Fairchild, and Brooklyn and Caden Webb; and one great-great-grandchild, Lindsay Michelle Fairchild.
A funeral service will be noon Monday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Carson Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
