Irene Elizabeth Cutlip Jarrell, 92, of Ironton, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 25, 1917, the daughter of the late Basil and Nora Webb Cutlip.
Irene was a former waitress for Alonzo’s Restaurant in Baltimore, Md., and Ironton. She was a member of Central Christian Church and a former foster grandmother at the Open Door School in Ironton. She was born and raised in Lawrence County, where she spent most of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Alonzo and Betty Hewitt.
She is survived by two nephews, two nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery with Minister Brad Poe officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m.-noon Monday at Phillips Funeral Home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit
