Thundering Herd spring game features Gloriana concert

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Kickoffs and country.

The Marshall Thundering Herd spring football game will kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at Edwards Stadium. When the final buzzer sounds, country music will take the field.

The annual Green-White scrimmage that concludes spring practice will feature a country music concert after the game with the group Gloriana, the American Music Awards’ Breakout Artists of the Year and the ACM top new vocal group.

“We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of events focused not only on honoring four of our greatest NFL alums, but on the future of our program as a whole,” said Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick.

“This weekend will be a celebration of our past and our future. All Thundering herd fans will want to be a part of it.”

Tickets for the game will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Thursday through the university ticket office. Tickets can be ordered online at www. Herdzone.com or by calling 1-800-THE-HERD. All tickets are general admission on the west side of the stadium.

Tickets for the game are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. The price includes game admission and the concert.

Parking on the west side stadium, west lot annex and softball parking lots are $10 on a first come, first serve basis. Parking in the Third Avenue parking garage are $5.

The weekend activities begin with the Big Green Scholarship Foundation Dinner at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Marshall Hall of Fame inductions presented by Pepsi and Sheetz will be held at the Marshall Student Recreation Center.

The banquet will feature former Herd and current NFL players Chad Pennington, Randy Moss, Byron Leftwich and John Wade.

Marshall athletics will conduct an M-Club Town Hall Meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Henderson Center. The meeting is designed for former letter winners and is open to former athletes and their families only. Players may RSVP with John McCoy at (304) 696-3978.

The annual “Choose-a-Seat” even will be held from noon until halftime of the spring game on April 24. Fans can select their seats for the upcoming season and talk with ticket office personnel about seating options and ticket prices.
