CHESAPEAKE — Close games don’t seem to bother the Chesapeake Lady Panthers.

Allison Chapman pitched a four-hitter and Myky Harmon cranked a three-run home run as the Lady Panthers won another close game with a 3-0 win over the Portsmouth West Lady Senators.

“It was a great game,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

“Going through the season last year we were in a lot of tight games and we have basically eight starters back. We always stress pitching and defense and if we do that we have a chance to be in the game at the end and we were.”

Chapman gave Chesapeake 3-0) the pitching it needed. She struck out 10 and walked only one.

“She threw her off-speed really well,” said Rice.

Chesapeake snapped a scoreless tie with three runs in the sixth inning.

Sarah Mayo singled to start the inning and went to second on Sidney Boyle’s sacrifice. Courtney Heffner walked to bring up Harmon who unloaded her home run to centerfield.

“She smoked it pretty good,” said Rice.

Mayo and Harmon each went 2-3. Sarah Rice and Macy Allen each doubled.
