HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Doc Holliday is facing the first bump in the road as he starts his ride.

The first-year Marshall Thundering Herd head football coach must deal with the arrest of two players early Sunday morning stemming from an incident outside a Huntington bar.

Cornerback DeQuan Bembry — the team’s best defensive back — and fellow defensive back T.J. Drakeford were arrested according to court documents.

Holliday was upset with the players’ actions.

“We had two football players arrested last night by Huntington police. They have let their team down, their coaches down, our fans down and the Huntington community down,” said Holliday.

“I am extremely disappointed in their actions and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken once I have all the facts.”

Bembry is accused of verbally assaulting an officer who was attempting to clear the downtown bar. Drakeford is accused of striking an officer in the chest.

Both players were in custody and bond was set at $15,000 for Drakeford and $5,500 for Bembry.

Bembry’s charge is assaulting a police officer and public intoxication. Drakeford is facing obstruction and battery of a police officer.

Both have requested court-appointed attorneys.

It is Bembry’s third arrest in 13 months.
