PEDRO — Allison Chapman was right all the time. The Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ offense was right enough.

Chapman fired a 3-hitter and the Lady Panthers got some key hits as they beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 3-0 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chapman struck out 11 and did not walk a batter as Chesapeake improved to 4-2 and 1-0.

“Allison did a pretty good job. Control-wise she was on the mark. Offensively we hit the ball, but we didn’t string anything together. But we got some hits at the right time,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

The Lady Panthers got the only run they needed in the first inning.

Chapman led off with a base hit, stole second base and score on a hit by Sarah Mayo.

Chesapeake added a run in the sixth on a single by Mayo, Sidney Boyle’s double and a ground out by Myky Harmon.

The Lady Panthers scored an insurance run in the seventh inning.

Macy Allen got a leadoff double, moved up on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chapman.

“Rock Hill does a good job defensively and their pitcher throws strikes. They’re a solid team,” said Rice. “We made a couple of errors, but for the most part we did a decent job.”

Mayo and Chapman both went 2-for-3.

On Wednesday, Chesapeake hosts South Point and Rock Hill entertains Coal Grove.
