PEDRO — Morgan Schug was throwing strikes and hitting them as well.
Schug pitched a five-inning no-hitter and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs batted in as the Rock Hill Redwomen blanked the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 19-0 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“Schug pitched well for us. She’s pitched well all season,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper. “She just kept throwing strikes and we played good defense behind her.”
Schug struck out eight and Coal Grove’s only base runner came on a walk.
Rock Hill belted out 16 hits with Courtney Duncan going 3-4 along with Schug. Dani Crabtree and Haylia Gannon were 2-3 while Chelsea Harper and Megan Russell were 2-4.
Harper doubled twice and drove in four runs. Schug had a pair of two-run singles, Morgan Damron had two RBI and Russell drove in three runs.
Rock Hill (2-4, 1-1) visits Fairland Friday in league game.
