Redwomen roll past Raiders

PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redwomen are doing what coach Mary Harper wants.
They’re getting better. And winning.
Rock Hill evened its record at 6-6 with an 11-2 win over the River Valley Lady Raiders Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“We ran the bases well. We’re improving and we just want to keep improving. We hit better again,” said Harper. “Morgan Damron pitched a good game again. Our pitching has been good.”
After River Valley got two runs in the top of the first inning, Rock Hill came back with six runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Courtney Duncan and BreeAnna Depriest singled, moved up on an error and Morgan Schug doubled them home.
Damron reached on an error as Schug scored. Damron came home on wild pitch.
Megan Russell walked and courtesy runner Brooke Knipp went home on Nicole Stamper’s base hit. Kaelyn Ellis was safe on an error as Stamper scored.
The lead went to 8-2 in the second.
Depriest reached on an error and scored on another error. Chelsea Harper also went to second on an error, stole third base and scored when Schug grounded out.
A run scored in the fourth inning when Depriest doubled and Schug singled.
The final two runs scored in the fifth inning to make it 11-2.
Russell singled to start the rally and came around to score on a couple of errors. Stamper followed with a hit and Harper hit a sacrifice fly.
Stamper went 3-3 while Depriest, Schug and Crabtree were 2-4.
Rock Hill (6-6, 3-2) visits Huntington Ross Thursday and hosts Oak Hill Saturday in a noon doubleheader.
