James “Jimbo” Edward Simmons, 53, of Ironton, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 12, 1956, a son of the late Elizabeth Ratliff and Charles Simmons.
James was a tree cutter for the Forestry Department and of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Simmons.
He is survived by six sons, Dusty Douglas Simmons and his fiancée, Tonya Smith, of Ironton, Thomas Simmons and his wife, Amanda, of Pedro, Jamie Douglas Simmons of Ironton, Scott Hackworth and his wife, Ruth, of Decatur, Steve Hackworth and his wife, Danielle, of North Carolina and Gene Simmons of Columbus; two daughters, Crystal Gayle Simmons and Carrie Elizabeth Simmons, both of Ironton; two brothers, Vernon Simmons of Chillicothe and Lonnie Smith and his wife, Elsie, of Ironton; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rock Massie officiating. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
