Hatfield-McCoy trails support children with ‘Ride for a Wish’
LYBURN, W.Va. — On Saturday, May 8, Hatfield-McCoy Trails will be a platinum sponsor for the Make a Wish Foundation’s “Ride for a Wish” event.
This ATV/UTV poker run on the Little Coal River Trail will be the second Ride-for-a-Wish event in West Virginia. The inaugural event was held in Sanderson, West Virginia, with over 250 registered participants.
Last year, Ride for a Cause gave the Charleston Chapter of the Make a Wish Foundation $11,000.00; with that money the organization granted 3 1/2 wishes for local children with life threatening illnesses. This year’s goal is to raise $20,000 to support the Foundation.
“We are extremely proud to be a major sponsor of this important event,” said Jeffrey Lusk, executive director of the Hatfield-McCoy Regional Recreation Authority. “The rider community is a community with a heart, and it’s just a great fit for Make a Wish and for us.”
Early registration is $30 and runs through April 20.
Registration includes a T-shirt and 10 door prize tickets.
“We really encourage anyone who loves kids and who loves to ride to be a part of this opportunity,” said Mike Pinkerton, marketing director for the Trails. “It’s a chance to help some of our state’s most vulnerable kids make their dreams come true. What could be better than that?”
