Maybe Quasimodo should be the new mascot for the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers. In the past few games, their bats have really been ringing.

After getting 33 hits the past three games, Ironton had 11 more hits Monday as they beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 10-5.

“We are enjoying he hits and wins, but I told the girls we can’t let down,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields. “We have to keep playing as a team and get better every game.”

Ironton got a run in the first inning and erupted for seven runs in the second inning.

Nikki Elswick was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Potter followed with an RBI triple.

Collins walked and Karlee McMackin and Brea Tackett delivered singles to score two runs. Taylor Lilly reached on a dropped third strike and back-to-back errors scored Taylor and courtesy runner Andi Kratzenberg.

Collins made it 9-0 when she led off the third inning with a long home run to straight away centerfield that cleared the fence by 20 feet.

Stormie Spitzer had a triple for Fairland.

On Tuesday, Ironton visits Chesapeake while Fairland (6-8) hosts Huntington St. Joseph.
