AID — There was concern that the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings might be looking past the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles.

Instead, they looked the Eagle right in the eye.

The Lady Vikings had nine hits to back the 4-hit pitching of Erica Corn in a 10-0 mercy rule win Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We didn’t have a letdown. The girls took care a business tonight,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Symmes Valley (15-3, 8-1) went ahead 1-0 in the first inning when Nikki Nance hit into a fielder’s choice, stole second base and scored on a hit by Kayla Ross.

The lead went to 5-0 in the third.

With one out, Nance reached on an error, Brooke Skinner singled and Chelsea Wall walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Nance and a throwing error scored two runs.

Corn hit into a fielder’s choice scoring Ross who reached on the error.

Michaela Sheppard and Jessie Morris singled to start the fourth, Skinner and Wall walked to force in a run, and Ross singled home two more and it was 8-0.

The game ended when the Lady Vikings scored two in the fifth.

Brittany Foster singled, Chelsea Keathley was safe on an error and Sheppard tripled.
