CHESAPEAKE — It was a case of doing a little extra.
Rock Hill and Chesapeake combined for 14 extra base hits as the Redmen outscored the Panthers 16-8 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“Both teams hit the ball well. We just out-hit them and outscored them,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral. “We took advantage of their mistakes and scored.”
Devin Darby was 2-3 with a double and a home run to trigger Rock Hill’s 19-hit attack. Matt Jenkins was 3-5 with two doubles while Josh Malone, Jeremy Blagg and Shane Russell all had a double. Malone also had a triple as he went 3-5.
Chesapeake had six doubles among their 12 hits as Les Counts, Shane Pelfrey, Gabe Freyre, Colton Lindsey, Jake Lewis and Jimmy Conrad all connected on extra base hits.
Rock Hill (10-5, 5-2) hosts Lewis County, Ky., Thursday.
