Jenkins leads Pointers to 7-3 win

SOUTH POINT — Tyler Jenkins pitched a five-hitter as the South Pointers took advantage of five Ironton errors to beat the Fighting Tigers 7-3 on Monday.
Jenkins struck out three and walked two in going the distance. Keith Wetzel tossed a complete game for Ironton as he struck out three and walked two.
Kyle Dickess was 2-4 as the Pointers got nine hits.
Dickess singled in a run in the first inning but Ironton tied the game in the second with the help of two South Point errors.
The Pointers scored twice in the third on a double by Steven Adkins and two Ironton errors.
Taylor Barker hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning as Ironton cut the deficit to 3-2.
South Point got a run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Blake Meadows and added a run in the fifth on a walk to Adkins, a single b Stephen McClure and a wild pitch.
Ironton got within 5-3 in the top of the sixth on a double by Wetzel, a ground out and a wild pitch.
The Pointers got two insurances runs in the bottom of the inning on two errors and hits by Jesse Lien and Jenkins.
