SOUTH POINT — There’s an old saying that “Walks will haunt.”

Count the Rock Hill Redmen as being spooked.

Three of the five walks Rock Hill pitchers issued scored including the deciding runs as the South Point Pointers rallied for an 8-6 Ohio Valley Conference win Wednesday.

“We just walked too many batters,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral. “Throw in a wild pitch and a hit here or there, and it was one of those kind of games.”

The Pointers trailed 6-5 after six inning, then scored three times in the seventh.

Steve Adkins and Tyler Jenkins singled with one out. Kyle Dickess walked and Stephen McClure grounded out as the tying run scored.

Cody Taylor walked and a wild pitch scored Jenkins. A throwing error on the play allowed the final run to score.

South Point took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a 2-run single by McClure.

Rock Hill (10-7, 5-3) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Drew Kidd and Cody Massie’s sacrifice fly.

Adkins had a 2-run singled in the second to put the Pointers back on top, but the Redmen scored four times in the third.

Massie hit a solo home run, Devin Darby and Shane Russell reached on errors and Matt Jenkins crashed a 3-run homer.

The Pointers got a run in the fourth when Robert Woodard walked and Jesse Lien and Adkins singled.
