BIDWELL — When seven players each get a hit, that’s balance. When they get hits at the right time, that’s clutch.

Rock Hill made use of all their hits as the Redwomen edged the River Valley Lady Raiders 7-6 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“It was a tough game, but we got some clutch hits up and down the lineup,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper.

River Valley got two runs in the first inning and Rock Hill answered with a run in the second inning as Morgan Damron singled, stole second, reached third when Megan Russell reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

The Redwomen grabbed a 6-2 lead with five runs in the third.

Chelsea Harper, Morgan Schug and Kaelyn Ellis singled for a run. Damron hit into a fielder’s choice and Schug scored during a rundown.

Nicole Stamper and Haylia Gannon each doubled in runs and a passed ball scored Gannon.

The game was tied when Rock Hill got the winning run in the sixth inning.

Courtney Duncan had a one-out single and then stole second and third. BreeAnna Depriest hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Duncan who slid in safely under the tag of Raiders’ catcher Emily VanSickle.

Schug — who worked the final 4.1 innings for the win — retired River Valley in order the final two innings.

Rock Hill is 12-8 and 5-4 while River Valley slips to 3-9 and 2-4.
