Lady Vikings, Wall sweep New Boston in doubleheader

AID — For Chelsea Wall, it was double or nothing.

Wall belted five doubles in a doubleheader Saturday as the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 15-0 in five innings and 9-0 in the second game.

“She had a great day,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Wall went 3-4 for three doubles in the first game as she drove in four runs. She had a pair of two-run doubles in a 12-run first inning and Kayla Ross added a two-run single in the uprising.

The Lady Vikings got two runs in the second inning when Kara Burcham walked, Ada Humphrey reached on an error and Nikki Nance had a two-run single.

Kerri Brumbaugh walked, Brittany Foster hit into a fielder’s choice, Burcham was hit by a pitch and Humphrey hit into a force play to score the final run in the third inning.

Erica Corn got the win as she pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just one walk.

In the second game, Nance pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Nance went 3-4 and Wall was 2-3 with two doubles.

Symmes Valley scored three runs in the first and third innings.

In the first, Jessie Morris walked, Nance singled, Brooke Skinner was safe on an error as a run scored. Wall reached on a throwing error as Nance scored and Corn hit into a force play for an RBI.

Skinner was safe on an error and Wall doubled her home to start the third. Corn was safe on an error to score a run, Ross singled and stole second, and Brittany Foster singled for a run.

Foster walked and Keathley tripled for a run and Humphrey reached on a fielder’s choice as Humphrey scored to make it 8-0 in the fifth.

The final run scored in the sixth when Nance single, stole second and third, and came home when Skinner hit into a fielder’s choice.

Symmes Valley (20-3, 13-1) is scheduled to host Portsmouth Clay Monday in a showdown for the SOC lead.
