Local mail carriers helping ‘stamp’ out hunger

Published 2:08 am Wednesday, May 5, 2010

On Saturday May 8 letter carriers in the Ironton and Coal Grove area will again be collecting canned and non perishable items for the needy in our area.

For most of us going to the kitchen and getting something to eat from the refrigerator, pantry or even the cookie jar is taken for granted.

For some in our area the refrigerator, pantry and cookie jar are empty.

On Saturday we can do something about that. Leave your canned food and non-perishable items near you mailbox, your letter carrier along with volunteers from the Ironton City Mission will pick it up.

Last year, we had our second best year ever. This year, we want to break our all time high and we can with your help.

Please help letter carriers “stamp” out hunger in our area by showing your Fighting Tiger, Flyer and Hornet spirit and give what you can.
